The Incredible Overload
In typically cyclical fashion, I've once again entered a phase of taking on too much work for my own good - but then again, a glutton for punishment I am, and the busier I keep, the happier I be. News is good, though, in that my self-prescribed busyness is manifest of (a) my renewing and increasing passions for all things film and (b) a very promising job opening that could make way for a very rewarding career (hint: it has nothing to do with either movies or anything I studied in college - go figure).Several new reviews can be found below (and more like them to come), while you can expect write-ups of this weekend's big releases sometime tomorrow night/Saturday day (also: some old reviews I neglected to link to in weeks past). Anyone in the NYC area should know of the Sunshine Cinema's midnight showings of 2001: A Space Odyssey this Friday and Saturday. Needless to say, I'll be there (only for Saturday's screening, unfortunately), making this a watch/work/write/sleep/work/bus/watch/sleep/watch/bus kind of weekend. Wish me luck for my second interview on Monday - if I'm still alive by then.

I was a big fan of 'Touching the Void' and PBS's recent Everest docs, I'll have to keep an eye out for To the Limit.
I'm looking forward to your views on 'The Happening'. I enjoyed 90% of the film, but it sailed way over the heads of Johnny Q. Public, and it looks like a lot of critics don't get 'it" either. I think M. Night has found a much smarter way to give the finger to studios that want him to be the 'twist guy', while still delivering entertainment.
