You will find that what you find as emotional is simply used as a formula for success.

The thing is when a similar film is critically acclaimed in India, it stays true to showcasing reality and does not go for a highly unlikely, fairytale climax.Estelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14306593188878215851noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38035217.post-2379231756584864472009-11-21T21:32:29.029-05:002009-11-21T21:32:29.029-05:00It was very interesting for me to read that articl...It was very interesting for me to read that article. Thanks for it. I like such themes and anything connected to them. (On the other hand, I was also a little peeved at a comment made by a cohort that amounted to "Anyone who doesn't love this movie is a bad human being"; even though I don't think he really means it, that's just unnecessary.)

At the very least though, no one can ever again rob humanickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03393593631883026810noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38035217.post-57854457007793416902009-01-13T12:52:00.000-05:002009-01-13T12:52:00.000-05:00I'm saddened to discover that you've joined your S...I'm saddened to discover that you've joined your Slant colleagues in praising Slumdog, one of the year's most cynically opportunistic and disingenuous films. I hate to trumpet the negative minority, but I really feel that the likes of Reverse Shot really nailed this one. The Wrestler is pretty great though, so kudos for that.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38035217.post-89722233327588167782009-01-11T11:48:00.000-05:002009-01-11T11:48:00.000-05:00Now if only these movies would arrive within 100 m...Now if only these movies would arrive within 100 miles of mid-size cities. More than ever, studios seem to be as possessive of their awards-contending releases as Gollum.

The two that mystify me are Slumdog Millionaire and The Wrestler. Both have enjoyed exceptional buzz for months. But as of Jan. 11, Slumdog only graces 601 screens and The Wrestler just 60.

I'm especially paulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17396333959160370175noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38035217.post-12632617320472182102009-01-09T18:43:00.000-05:002009-01-09T18:43:00.000-05:00John Patrick Shanley is not the next Von Trier, bu...John Patrick Shanley is not the next Von Trier, but until LVT's next film, Doubt will do. Shanley's script may not be subtle, but it still touches upon material that not many other films have dared explore.
